There are two elements that make this place fantastic. The first is just how completely original it feels, The Two Bit Cafe doesn’t seem to be trying to copy a formula devised by someone else and the building and interior haven’t changed since the early 20th century. It is a charming place to sit in the booths and soak in a little of the old-timey ambiance.
And secondly, there is the grilled eggplant ciabatta. While the ingredients are not particularly noteworthy: grilled Eggplant, smoked mozzarella, sun dried tomato pesto, onion, spring greens and berry balsamic, this combination available at most Panini shops, what is extraordinary is the crunchy but oily and solid texture of the ciabatta.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the sandwich were pan fried, which, if the case, is A O.K. with me. Delicious, so rich and salty.
Definitely worth stopping in just to have a poke around but an even better place to take your appetite.
